The purpose of this was to determine the relationships between rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
patients’ self- care agency and their quality of life. A purposive sample consisted of 120
RA patients who visit ed to RA clinic in C university hospital, Daegu city. Self report data
were collected from 10th of May, 1998 to 11th of July1998, 1998. The structured
questionnair econsisted of Self- care Agency (소향숙, 1992), Quality of Life(노유자, 1988).
The data were analyzed using SPSS program, presented in descriptive st atistics, t - test,
ANOVA, Pearson Corr elation Coefficient.
The results were as follows ;
1. The score of RA patients’ for Self- care Agency were mean 134.62, mean score 3.95.
The score of Quality of Life were mean 134.41, mean score 3.05.
2. Demographic data for Self- care Agency had no significant differences, while for the
Quality of Life, there were statistical significances regarding age(F=3.9470, P=.010),
marriage(F =3.9470, P=.010), income(F=4.3681, P=.002).
3. The relation score between Self- care Agency and Quality of Life was r=.4341.
The result of this study suggested that ther e is need for further study ex amining
patient’s ability of selt - care performance and developing an appropriate instrument to
measure RA patients’ quality of life.
